SK 01 Monolith® – Original Power. Reimagined.

The SK 01 Monolith® is a table with an archaic presence. Designed by Stefan Knopp, it embodies the essence of JANUA: uncompromising material honesty, artisanal precision, and the power of grown structures.

At its heart is a massive slab from a single tree trunk – grown, not constructed. Each slab is unique, characterized by individual cracks, annual rings, and natural stresses.

Its origin lies in carbonization – a refinement with fire that transforms the surface and impressively highlights the natural grain. Flame patterns and structures powerfully emerge, giving the wood a distinctive depth.
From this original technique, another variation emerged: the smoked version. It interprets the Monolith® more calmly, darker, and more elegantly – with more tonal depth, but the same authenticity.

A special feature of the SK 01 Monolith® is its conscious proximity to the material: customers have the opportunity to select their personal raw slab themselves. From a stock of unique planks, a direct connection to the future piece of furniture is thus created.
In the JANUA manufactory, this selected slab is then processed with the utmost care, refined, and brought into its final shape – always preserving its original character.

The precisely crafted base of raw steel forms a clear, modern contrast and supports the massive slab with calm naturalness.

The SK 01 Monolith® is no ordinary table. It is an object with origin, with process – and with a story that begins with its selection.
